Build works underway for National Broadband Plan in South Wicklow. Almost 4,800 homes, businesses and farms in Wicklow are connected today.
National Broadband Ireland has announced that construction is underway to deliver high-speed broadband to almost 2,200 homes, farms and businesses in the Coolkenno and Hollyfort deployment area in Co.Wicklow.
This includes the rural townland of Tinahealy, Carnew and Coolkenno. 16,000 premises in Co Wicklow are included in the State’s Intervention Area, which will see NBI deliver minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second to homes, businesses, farms, and schools.
Co Wicklow will receive €59m of Government investment under the National Broadband Plan. High-speed fibre cabling is now being installed for 1,189 Wicklow premises in Coolkenno and 963 premises in Hollyfort, with connections to services expected to be available by the end of next year.
NBI is drafted to deliver the new future-proofed, high-speed Fibre-to-the-Home network under the Government’s National Broadband Plan.
Works have already been completed in other parts of Wicklow, including the rural surrounds of Baltinglass and Augrim.
There's a total of 12,896 premises that can now order or pre-order high-speed, reliable broadband, with 4,758 premises already connected to the network.
NBI is encouraging residents to visit nbi.ie/map and enter their Eircode to check if their premises is ready to connect.
